Be Involved + RiSE Awards

The philanthropic spirit of Bouchard Insurance started with our founder, Roger Bouchard, more than 70 years ago. His giving nature has been passed down through our company’s growth and leadership changes and has become ingrained in our company culture.  

We recognize that we are more than just a business, we are part of a community. We planted roots in the Tampa Bay community when we were founded and feel fortunate to be able to give back to it throughout the year.

Our reach in the community is both on an individual level and through corporate-wide initiatives. We have examples of philanthropic leadership throughout our company including many who serve on boards for organizations such as Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater, Eckerd, Pinellas Education Foundation, The Arc, Homeless Empowerment Program, and Gracepoint Foundation.

Our Be Involved committee coordinates activities with local community organizations throughout the year and each employee is given one PTO day per year to use at a volunteer opportunity of their choice. Some of the group organizations we support are Adopt-a-Highway, Clothes to Kids, Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater, The Arc of Tampa Bay, Eckerd, Tampa Bay Watch, Metropolitan Ministries, and Habitat for Humanity. We hold our annual Bouchard Insurance 5K which benefits the Gramatica Family Foundation. Last year our event raised $20,000 toward their mission to build mortgage-free homes for combat wounded veterans in the Tampa Bay area.

We were honored to be recognized as a nominee for Commitment to the Community at the 1st Annual Tampa Bay RiSE Awards. The Rise Awards Breakfast was held on November 8th at the new James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art in Downtown St. Petersburg. Proceeds from the event benefited student scholarships at LiFT Academy, an organization which serves children and young adults with neurodiversities, including autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, ADD/ADHD and other learning differences.

It was a beautiful and moving breakfast that featured Keynote Speaker Dr. Jennifer Arnold, Medical Director of the Simulation Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and star of TLC’s The Little Couple. Several of the students directly impacted by LiFT Student Scholarships also gave moving speeches on the impact the organization has made in their life.

We were humbled to receive the award for Commitment in the Large Company category.

Annual Employee Appreciation Outing

We love celebrating our employees. Each year, we host a family outing to show them our appreciation of their hard work, commitment, and dedication to the agency. It started years ago as a picnic, but with Florida’s temperamental weather we’ve since moved it inside.

This year, our employees brought their families to Maple Lanes for an afternoon of fun (and air conditioning). We enjoyed a few games of bowling and lunch together. It’s always nice to see everyone outside of the office and getting everyone’s families together to socialize is always a lot of fun.

Year after year, our employees continue to put our client’s first and we will always continue to put our employees first.

Bouchard Insurance receives Florida Well Being Award Two Years in a Row

For the second year in a row, Bouchard Insurance received First Place in the Florida Well Being Award in the under 500 employee segment of Cigna clients. This honor recognizes companies for exceptional commitment to improving employees' physical and emotional health through workplace wellness programs. Bouchard was presented with the award Tuesday, August 28, at the Omni Orlando Resort.

Applicants were evaluated based on the core components of their wellness program, including the goals, implementation, incentives, leadership engagement and employee participation. All applications were reviewed and judged by an internal, multi-departmental review committee from Cigna.

Bouchard is honored to be recognized by Cigna.  Health and wellness is an integral part of our culture and our programs help employees achieve their goals and improve their overall quality of life. We're passionate about our employees' well-being and take every opportunity to celebrate their success.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. employers lose more than $225 billion each year in productivity due to employee health problems. Cigna created the Well-Being Award to recognize employer clients that have a positive impact on the health and well-being of their workforce.

Three Different People, Three Great Hires

Finding a job is hard enough, but choosing a career can be daunting.  At Bouchard Insurance, we help people with both through our unique service training program referred to as SST.  Many of us who got into the insurance industry a while ago started in one department and built a career there; never getting to experience all the different facets of an agency.  Today, we have changed all that by providing opportunities to explore multiple careers under one roof.

We knew there were many ideal candidates - they just needed insurance knowledge.  So, we hire people like Cameron, Erinn, and Michelle.  Their backgrounds couldn’t be any more different.

Cameron was a brand-new college graduate.  His cousin worked at Bouchard, but he didn’t really know much about the industry.  He joined SST and spent time looking at all the departments and what they did and felt that Group Benefits would be a good fit. It suited his analytical nature and his interest in being part of a smaller team.  The role of Benefits Customer Service Representative met his criteria and today his job has expanded to include working directly with clients on a specific software program we provide.

Erinn worked as a hairstylist and is a true “people person.”  Lively, outgoing, and committed to helping people, Erinn knew early on that working in personal lines was her best fit.  It gave her the opportunity to work with multiple clients throughout the day, typically over the phone or in person.  She took a position with our personal lines team as an Account Manager.  Here she gets to help clients all day long and gives them that Client First experience that is the foundation of who we are as an agency.

Michelle worked in the retail industry for four years before a colleague suggested she apply at Bouchard.  She was hired for SST at one of our branch offices, also acting as receptionist.  Michelle worked in both personal lines and commercial lines support before deciding that commercial lines was the direction she wanted to go.  After about 15 months, she was hired as a Customer Service Representative in our large commercial department where she supports an Account Manager.

Three different people, three different choices, three great hires!

American Heart Association Recognizes Bouchard Insurance for Workplace Health Achievement

Last week the American Heart Association announced the National 2018 Workplace Health Achievement Index. Bouchard Insurance is proud to have met the criteria for Gold level recognition for taking significant steps to build a culture of health in the workplace.

Over 1,000 companies completed the Index assessment this year and 75% of those received either Gold, Silver, or Bronze recognition. This program allows companies to measure the effectiveness of their workplace health programs as well as the overall heart health of their employees. The American Heart Association has defined best practices for employers to use to build a culture of health for their employees, and the Workplace Health Achievement Index measures the extent to which the company has implemented those health best practices. Companies recognized at the Gold level achieved an Index score of 175 - 217 out of a maximum 217 points.

We believe that investing in our employees’ health pays off.  When an employee’s health improves, this lowers health costs for both the employee and the employer. A direct result of a healthier workforce is enhanced productivity and employee retention, not to mention, a culture of wellness allows for better teamwork and overall morale.

All of this equates to increased profitability and a happier staff!  Running a healthy business means helping empower employees to make lasting, noticeable changes in their health and well-being.

We have worked hard to establish a true culture of wellness with engaged employees here at Bouchard. We post “Stall Street Journal” communication pieces on the inside of the bathroom stalls. Talk about having a captive audience! We change them out weekly, and try to keep the messages short but relatable. We have hosted infused water bars to promote hydration and hold an annual Office Olympics event. Our active wellness team stays busy coming up with fun, fresh ideas.
