Be Involved + RiSE Awards

The philanthropic spirit of Bouchard Insurance started with our founder, Roger Bouchard, more than 70 years ago. His giving nature has been passed down through our company’s growth and leadership changes and has become ingrained in our company culture.

We recognize that we are more than just a business, we are part of a community. We planted roots in the Tampa Bay community when we were founded and feel fortunate to be able to give back to it throughout the year.

Our reach in the community is both on an individual level and through corporate-wide initiatives. We have examples of philanthropic leadership throughout our company including many who serve on boards for organizations such as Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater, Eckerd, Pinellas Education Foundation, The Arc, Homeless Empowerment Program, and Gracepoint Foundation.

Our Be Involved committee coordinates activities with local community organizations throughout the year and each employee is given one PTO day per year to use at a volunteer opportunity of their choice. Some of the group organizations we support are Adopt-a-Highway, Clothes to Kids, Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater, The Arc of Tampa Bay, Eckerd, Tampa Bay Watch, Metropolitan Ministries, and Habitat for Humanity. We hold our annual Bouchard Insurance 5K which benefits the Gramatica Family Foundation. Last year our event raised $20,000 toward their mission to build mortgage-free homes for combat wounded veterans in the Tampa Bay area.

We were honored to be recognized as a nominee for Commitment to the Community at the 1st Annual Tampa Bay RiSE Awards. The Rise Awards Breakfast was held on November 8th at the new James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art in Downtown St. Petersburg. Proceeds from the event benefited student scholarships at LiFT Academy, an organization which serves children and young adults with neurodiversities, including autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, ADD/ADHD and other learning differences.

It was a beautiful and moving breakfast that featured Keynote Speaker Dr. Jennifer Arnold, Medical Director of the Simulation Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and star of TLC’s The Little Couple. Several of the students directly impacted by LiFT Student Scholarships also gave moving speeches on the impact the organization has made in their life.

We were humbled to receive the award for Commitment in the Large Company category.

Bouchard Insurance 5K | A Record-Breaking Event

On May 5th, 2018, we held the 3rd Annual Bouchard Insurance 5K in Safety Harbor, FL. This year’s race hosted 525 runners, which more than doubled last year’s event size.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Gramatica Family Foundation and their mission to build mortgage-free homes for combat wounded veterans in the Tampa Bay area. The past home recipients are very involved in the foundation and both attend and participate in our events. This year Justin and Charles were kind enough, along with Martin Gramatica, to distribute awards to our age group winners post-race.

Overall winners were Steve Wilcox with a time of 17:16 for the men, and Gretchen Ranson with a time of 20:07 for the women.

Because of the support of our runners and volunteers, and the generosity of our sponsors, we raised a record-breaking $20,000 for the Gramatica Family Foundation. A check was presented at our company-wide communications meeting on Friday, July 13.

We can’t thank you enough for all your support and have some exciting news to share with you soon about next year’s event!

Paint Your Heart Out

Paint Your Heart Out- Clearwater (PYHOC) is a non-profit organization comprised of local business and community groups partnering with the City of Clearwater to help disadvantaged homeowners to have their home painted. The program relies solely on sponsorship and donations which are utilized for supplies to support event day and reward our volunteers.

Painting.jpg

PYHOC has benefited approximately 608 low income/disabled homeowners over the course of its 27 years. The homeowners were interviewed and verified as eligible prior to paint day. During the interview process the paint color selection is determined as our commitment is painting only the exterior of the home from 8:00am-12:00pm on paint day. PYHOC provides the paint teams with the paint based on the home square footage along with a supply of rollers, paint brushes, paint trays and a few other items to assist with the project.

The Mayor visits each home on paint day to thank the volunteers. Clearwater Fire Department visits each home and installs new smoke alarms, and Papa John's provides a gift bag for a personal pizza for each homeowner.

This is an annual event which we successfully completed this past Saturday March 24th, with 12 homes painted by 12 teams of approximately 15-22 volunteers per team. Immediately after painting, all volunteers attend a come as your after party for lunch at the park behind City Hall. An assortment of donated gifts are raffled to the volunteers for their participation.

This is my 2nd term as PYHOC-Board President and I've been a member of the organization since 2006. Bouchard Insurance has been a sponsor since 2008 and provides a monetary sponsorship, a donation of raffle items for the after party, and a paint team of volunteers. In appreciation of Bouchard Insurance's 10 years of continued sponsorship, we were recognized and given an award at this year's annual event.

'Tis The Season to Give Back

The holiday spirit is absolutely contagious at Bouchard Insurance. It's awesome to see the team rally together to help a variety of community organizations every year.

Eckerd Foster Angels 2017.jpg

Jan holds an annual "Teddy Bear Roundup". Employees bring bears to Jan's office throughout the year and by December it looks something like this...

Teddy Bear Roundup.jpg

This year she donated the bears to Youth and Family Alternatives to ensure each child has something special on Christmas morning.

Other annual tradition include The Arc of Tampa Bay, HEP, and Eckerd Foster Angels programs. Team members select an ornament off of our tree for one of the three programs and purchase gifts for the recipient selected.

There are many other ways our employees get involved throughout the holidays and we are grateful for their generosity and giving spirit. We hope you had a wonderful holiday!
