Last year we held the first Bouchard SummerFest, a weeklong celebration of our employees. The summer-themed event included fun surprises throughout the week to show our appreciation for what we know is the best team in the business. The event was so popular we decided to make it an annual celebration.
The HR Team has a blast carefully planning all the details of the week. Bouchard Insurance has 6 offices throughout the state, and each office participates in the week’s events before getting together on Friday for our company-wide communication meeting.
This year, for the Second Annual SummerFest event, we kicked it off with a tropical theme. On Monday, employees came in to find notes from their Manager along with a pineapple cup to enjoy at our infused water bar. The break room tables were decorated and lined with bowls of different kinds of fruit and herbs. You need to stay hydrated during the summer in Florida!
Tuesday was Tacky Tourist Day. We had a photo booth at the employee entrance and encouraged team members to dress in their tackiest gear. They did not disappoint! A Kona Ice Truck courtesy of our friends at Lincoln Financial joined us for the celebration that afternoon offering our employees a delicious summer treat.
Wednesday was certainly a fan favorite day, the Office Olympics. We encouraged our employees to dress in their favorite sports gear (the cheesier the better). Everyone gathered in the morning for opening ceremonies, complete with the National Anthem in the Olympic Village (the lobby) and a torch march throughout each building. There were 5 games set up throughout the offices and competition, in events such as waste paper basketball, was fierce!
Thursday was a day for refueling and recharging from the competition of the day before. Coffee and donuts were provided by the managers in each office.
Friday was our company-wide communications meeting, with the dress code being jeans and your favorite Bouchard shirt. We had quite a collection of shirts representing many Bouchard sponsored events over the years. The meeting included the Olympic closing ceremonies and trophy presentations to the winners of each of our events.
We also awarded prizes we named, “The Elsey’s”, after our CFO, for an employee nominated superlative (similar to “The Dundies”, if you’re a fan of The Office). Some of the categories were “Most likely to See the Positive” or “Greatest Stash of Stuff in Desk”.
Our CEO, Doug Bishop, updated everyone on important company news, and concluded the meeting with a check presentation to the Gramatica Family Foundation for $20,000. These funds were raised at our 3rd Annual Bouchard Insurance 5K, to help provide mortgage free homes to wounded veterans. To top everything off, the employees were given the afternoon off!
SummerFest is a great time to relax and have a little fun, as we know our employees work hard to provide a “Client First” experience. We can’t wait to start planning for next year!
