Account Executive/Sales – Small Business Commercial

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Small Business Unit Account Executive sells new business and additional lines for existing accounts in keeping with agency and individual goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for the acquisition of new business that meets the current New Business Guidelines.
  2. Accurately identify exceptions to the filter (VIP accounts, sensitive accounts, small accounts related to a larger existing account).
  3. Review and place new business in service centers when it meets the filter.
  4. Proactively work prospects in ACT according to procedures.
  5. Strong communication and negotiation skills under stressful situations.
  6. Pre-qualify insurance prospects for insurability and fit with the filter.
  7. Inter-department contact for marketing questions.
  8. Responsible for account rounding (both at new business and renewal).
  9. Maintain a current working knowledge of all company change procedures and communicate to members of the team.
  10. Positively accept any other duties as assigned by management.
  11. Monitor placement of new business within standard and E&S carriers.
  12. Obtain underwriting information necessary to quote.
  13. Complete intake sheets for all new risks and attach in iChannel.
  14. Complete applications & billing screens in Applied.
  15. Attach all necessary paperwork & correspondence in iChannel as per Best Practices.
  16. Provide market direction and updates to Account Manager.
  17. Complete customization of proposals as dictated by client need.
  18. Present proposals to clients.
  19. Obtain signatures and collect premium on new business accounts.
  20. Obtain all necessary waivers from client and attach all completed documents in iChannel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Currently 220 Licensed.
  • Career development includes obtaining professional insurance designation(s).
  • Traits: sales oriented, productive in high volume, fast-paced, multi-tasked environment. Able to proactively identify and pursue niche market business.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills under stressful situations.
  • Strong team member who proactively assists all other members of this team.
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner at all times.
  • Able to manage time and prioritize work load.
